Intended Learners

The Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO) is designed for interventional radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of cancer or looking to expand into this arena.

Learning Objectives

After attending the Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO), participants should be able to: 

  • Describe catheter-based procedures to treat solid tumors, using the latest techniques and technologies
  • Assess the most appropriate therapeutic agent in catheter-directed therapy for hepatic malignancies
  • Demonstrate appropriate decision-making skills and techniques in image-guided ablation involving tumors of the kidney, bone, liver, and lung
  • Review the role of Y90 radioembolization in the management of hepatic malignancies as well as understand dosimetry and advanced techniques
  • Understand the role of systemic therapy in management of various malignancies and its potential synergistic effects with locoregional therapies
  • Determine the most appropriate imaging modalities during assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients
  • Learn the clinical data, outcomes, and complications of minimally invasive interventional oncology therapies
  • Describe important literature, analyze the evidence, and review the pros and cons for different IO therapies
  • Review controversies in interventional oncology and debate competing therapies, including medical oncology and surgical and radiation therapies
  • Discuss novel and state-of-the-art minimally invasive treatments for cancer

Requirements for Credit

To be eligible for documentation of credit for each session attended, learners must participate in the activity and complete the session(s) and overall conference evaluations, as well as post-test(s), if applicable. Participants who complete the evaluation online within 30 days of the conference will receive documentation of credit. Your certificate may not load if you are accessing it from a smartphone or if your browser settings do not allow a new tab/window to open.  

Once a certificate has been claimed, physicians and pharmacists may elect for credits to be submitted on their behalf to their boards via additional fields that will appear within the Claim Certificate page. Credits must be submitted through this process to be reported to the American Board of Surgery and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
