Vitiligo is often dismissed as a cosmetic problem despite its impact on psychological health and a patient’s overall quality of life. However, this common depigmenting skin disorder caused by a chronic autoimmune inflammatory response is also associated with a number of comorbidities, including autoimmune thyroiditis, alopecia areata, pernicious anemia, diabetes mellitus, hypoacusis, Addison’s disease, and celiac disease. This session will examine the clinical features of vitiligo as well as some of the targeted treatment options that are available or emerging.
