Dr. Douglas Ackerman earned his B.S at Stanford University and his M.D. at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Urological Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University, is certified by the American Board of Urology, and has completed a thirty year tenure as an attending Urologist at Kaiser Permanente Northwest..

He has served as President of the Oregon Urological Society and as Urology Residency Program Director for KPNW. He was the Chief of Robotic Surgery for KPNW from 2005-2022. As an early adopter, he has performed Kaiser Permanente’s first robotic surgery nationwide in 2005, and thousands since.

His research interests have included risk assessment and evaluation of parameters influencing surgical outcomes for prostate cancer, efficiency protocols for outpatient management of urolithiasis, and others.

In 2007, Dr. Ackerman and his wife developed Armstrong Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA of the Willamette Valley, and grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 2015 they founded Red Electric Wines—come visit them at www.redelectricwines.com.
