Senior Vice President, Precision Medicine
Elsevier

Olaf Lodbrok's passion is building and developing companies at the intersection of innovative information technology and healthcare.

He co-founded Germany's leading electronic marketplace and e-procurement service for hospital supplies and successfully divested the company. As the first employee and managing director, he set the strategy, hired key employees and acquired key customers.

Olaf is a seasoned leader of midsized, full P&L organizations. He transformed Elsevier's €40 million German subsidiary from a traditional local medical print publisher to electronic business with a large international component.

Today, Olaf Lodbrok is the Senior Vice President for Precision Medicine at Elsevier. He is pioneering the publisher's transition from medical reference solutions to data-driven clinical decision support. He launched and grew Elsevier's health data and data analytics businesses to include half of top 20 life sciences companies as customers, among other digital products.

In early 2020, he initiated Elsevier's response to the Covid-19 pandemic and organized broad volunteer effort across business units. The team combined 15 clinical and bio-medical solutions to assist the global scientific community in record 6 weeks. The implementation has been highly successful with researchers and published by AWS as a case study.

Olaf holds a Master's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, an MBA and has 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
