David Buchanan is Chief Innovation Officer for CVS Healthcare Delivery. David leads strategic efforts to improve health outcomes at Oak Street Health and across the other CVS Healthcare Delivery businesses. He continues to practice Internal Medicine at Oak Street Health.

Dr. Buchanan earned his Bachelor’s degree from MIT in Economics, MD from University of Chicago and trained in Primary Care Internal Medicine at UCSF. Prior to Oak Street, he held leadership positions at a community health center, an Medicaid ACO, a national Health Information Technology Organization and a public hospital system.

Dr. Buchanan is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Institute for
Medicine as a Profession and Leadership Greater Chicago. He is currently an
Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University where he
participates in quality improvement and SDOH research.
