Dr. Kazan has held countless positions in EMS since becoming an EMT while an undergraduate student at UCLA in 1994. Across more than 31 years in EMS and Emergency Medicine, he has held positions ranging from EMT to skills instructor to dispatcher to emergency physician to medical directorships in both emergency medicine and EMS. Dr. Kazan is a board-certified specialist in both Emergency Medicine and EMS, and he is a fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). Dr. Kazan’s passions include teaching, quality improvement, and process development. Since joining the Los Angeles County Fire Department as its medical director in 2015, he has launched numerous innovative and nationally recognized initiatives that are transforming the practice of EMS.
