US Army Combat Veteran Lloyd Marshall Briggery is an illustrator and a storyteller. After completing four years serving in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps while attending Hampton University as an art major, Lloyd was commissioned into Active Duty service as a 2nd Lieutenant Armor Officer in the summer of 2002. He went on to serve 6 years of Active Duty, the bulk of which was spent overseas stationed in Germany; including two combat tours to Iraq in the Global War on Terrorism. Between deployments, Lloyd was able to qualify for the Army's World Class Athletes Program as a member of the 2005 All Army Basketball Team. In 2008 after his second combat tour to Iraq, Lloyd was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to the US to begin his pursuit of a career in art. Soon after, he was diagnosed with PTSD from his time in combat. Lloyd spent the next 4 years in therapy and counseling while thriving as a fitness instructor in Brooklyn, New York. In 2011, Lloyd was accepted into the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Art, a trade school for aspiring comic book artists in Dover, New Jersey. Upon completion of his training, he was brought on to the staff of the school as the Events Coordinator and Admissions Officer, and for the next seven years he represented the school at comic book conventions around the world, taught various classes and seminars, and interviewed some of the comic book industry's most prolific practitioners, all while taking copious notes for his own art career. In 2021, Lloyd decided to take his talents back to his home state of North Carolina to start his own art business, "Art by Brigg", where he spends his time between church, the gym, and being a one man art factory from his home studio.
