Anvar A. Babaev, MD, PhD, is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine. He received his medical degree at Tajik State Medical University, completed a residency and cardiology fellowship in ex-Soviet Union. He also earned a PhD in the cardiovascular physiology in Moscow, Russia. In the US, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in cardiology, an internal medicine residency, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons-affiliated hospitals, New York, NY. He then completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at NYU. He joined the NYU faculty in 2005.
Dr Babaev’s research interests include coronary and peripheral arterial disease, vascular biology, and long-term outcomes of revascularization, as well as effects on quality of life and commorbities. He has participated in numerous research studies evaluating new medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and surgical techniques and is currently the primary site investigator for several multicenter research trials.
Dr Babaev has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and has presented his work at national and international congresses.
A fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr Babaev also serves as a Director of Endovascular Interventions at NYU Langone Medical Center and is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine
