Erin Murphy

Dr. Erin Murphy is an esteemed Vascular Surgeon affiliated with Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute, a distinguished division of Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC where she serves as the Director of the Venous and Lymphatic Center. She is an internationally renowned venous surgeon, with expertise in pelvic venous disorders, pelvic venous imaging, and the full breadth of lower extremity venous disorders. She specializes in the treatment of post-thrombotic iliac and IVC occlusive disease.

Dr. Murphy earned her medical degree from Georgetown University. Following this, she completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center, and pursued a research fellowship at Stanford University. She undertook fellowship training in vascular surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She holds dual board certifications in General and Vascular Surgery.
As a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum and the American Venous and Lymphatic Society, Dr. Murphy actively contributes to the advancement of the field. She serves as the Co-Chair for the Charing Cross Symposium and is an active member of the venous executive board. She is the Co-Chair of the AVLS Great Expectations Initiative.

Committed to scholarly pursuits, Dr. Murphy boasts an extensive research portfolio, marked by numerous contributions to medical journals, book chapters, and editorials. She routinely presents at national and international teaching conferences. Dr. Murphy has served as the co-Global principal investigator for the ABRE IDE clinical trial and remains actively engaged in other pivotal venous clinical investigations.
