Neilanjan Nandi, MD, FACG, AGAF, FCCF, FACP is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and is the Clinical Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nandi specializes in the complex management of Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis and recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (C difficile). Dr. Nandi completed his undergraduate degree at Rice University and medical school at Northwestern University. After completing residency at Thomas Jefferson and fellowship at the University of Miami, Dr. Nandi developed specialty interest in the diagnosis and management of complex IBD, refractory C. difficile infection and the application of fecal microbiota restoration therapies to these disease states. He has also authored numerous abstracts, publications and book chapters on the diagnosis and management of IBD, C difficile and various viral, parasitic, mycobacterial and bacterial infections of the GI tract. Aligning with his interests, Dr. Nandi has conducted several clinical trials focused on the clinical impact of stool derived microbiome therapies in C difficile and IBD.

Through the years, Dr. Nandi has had the privilege of serving on the Philadelphia Crohn's & Colitis Foundation (CCF) Executive Council. In this capacity he has served on numerous CCF health care professional educational programs, has been a Camp Oasis volunteer physician, previously co-chaired the Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis fundraising campaign and currently serves as co-chair of the Health Professional Education Committee. Dr. Nandi is a founding non-profit board member and Chair of the South Asian IBD Alliance (SAIA) which elevates culturally competent care in South Asian IBD. He also serves on the medical advisory board of the United Ostomy Associates of America (UOAA), and coordinates outreach on the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Patient Care Committee.

Dr. Nandi’s fervor for clinical education has been recognized with multiple teaching awards throughout his career at the medical school, residency, fellowship and graduate school levels. He was honored as the 2019 Physician Hero by the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley CCF at their annual Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis event and awarded the 2022 CCF's Chairman’s National Citation Award. He is the honored recipient of the 2023 Sidney Cohen GI Faculty Teaching Award and the 2024 Radhika Srinivasan GI Faculty award for Professionalism and Humanism at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nandi is very blessed to be honored as the 2024 Philadelphia CCF’s Gold Medallion Award Physician Honoree.
