Dr. Bob Tahara MD FSVS FACS DFOEIS RVT RPVI is Director of Allegheny Vein & Vascular in Bradford, PA, Attending Vascular Surgeon at Meadville Medical Center in Meadville PA., and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery with the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Tahara is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, American Venous Forum, and American Venous and Lymphatic Society, and Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society. He is currently the President of OEIS and has been the Technical Director of the OEIS National Registry since 2018.
He graduated with Honors from the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1993nand subsequently served in the US Navy where he completed US Navy Dive School and served as a Diving Medical Officer supporting US Naval Special Operations in the Pacific. His surgical training was at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, during which he was inducted into the AOA Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Tahara has a busy vascular and endovascular surgical practice with an emphasis on complex venous disease and novel minimally invasive endovascular procedures for both arterial and venous disease. Dr. Tahara has been extensively involved in teaching and research and is coauthor of multiple peer reviewed publications with an emphasis on complex venous disease and novel CLI techniques. He has been co-investigator for national clinical trials
He is an unrepentant tinkerer, an avid fly fisherman, an experienced gunsmith, and most recently a burgeoning custom watchmaker.
