I am a thoracic surgeon at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York and serve as Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, and Associate Director of Clinical and Translational Research for thoracic surgery through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I have a particular interest in the biology of early-stage lung cancers and seek to identify means of earlier detection. I believe this is especially important in minority populations who may be at greater risk of poorer outcomes related to lung cancer owing to later stages of diagnosis. To this end, I am investigating incidental lung nodules to ensure potential lung cancers are not lost to follow-up. I am also actively involved with our institution's screening program to increase adherence to and follow-up of lung cancer screening.
