Afsaneh Alavi is a dermatologist with special interests in inflammatory disorders such as hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) and wound healing. She is an associate professor of dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr Alavi completed her residency in dermatology and a fellowship in wound healing both in Iran ( 1998) and in Canada (2011). She earned her Master of Science in community health from University of Toronto. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, she served as the Director of the Wound Healing Fellowship and was running a sub-specialty HS and PG clinic at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Alavi’s clinical interests are chronic wounds, with a focus on inflammatory wounds and skin manifestation of gastrointestinal disorders.
