Joseph Feuerstein

Dr Feuerstein is an associate professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an attending in the Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  Dr Feuerstein's clinical practice focuses on the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. He is recognized as an expert in the field of IBD; he has won multiple awards locally and nationally, including being recognized yearly as one of Boston's Top Doctors in Boston Magazine since 2020, Rising Healthcare Leader in IBD in 2019, and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Outstanding Service Award in 2021. Dr Feuerstein's research focuses on quality and outcomes in gastroenterology and IBD. He has been involved in developing multiple IBD clinical practice guidelines, serving as guideline panel leads and as a methodologist for the AGA guidelines on ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. He has published over 170 manuscripts and has edited multiple books on the management of IBD. He has served on multiple committees for the AGA, ACG, and Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. He is the IBD lead for the AGA Quality Committee and is involved in multiple national projects with the AGA focused on improving care for patients with IBD.
