Peter J. Weiden, M.D. is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at SUNY Stony Brook. He is internationally recognized as a schizophrenia expert with over 30 years of research, clinical and teaching experience. His early career included the first systemic study of under-recognition of drug-induced movement disorders, which ultimately led to the inclusion in DSM-IV of text and criteria for drug-induced movement disorders, with Dr. Weiden serving as Editor-in-Chief of this section. Later, his NIMH supported research on theory and approach to adherence challenges was and remains an important advance to the field, Meanwhile, Dr. Weiden is a renowned educator having received numerous teaching awards over the course of his academic career. As such, Dr. Weiden was proud to have served as core faculty at USPC Annual Meetings for many years. This was interrupted due to joining industry in 2016 to focus on new treatments for schizophrenia. In 2023, Dr. Weiden returned to teaching and delighted to return to the USPC faculty family.
