Stephanie Rubel, Health Scientist, leads the Overdose Preparedness and Response Team within the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Overdose Prevention, where she also directs the Opioid Rapid Response Program (ORRP). Ms. Rubel has over 20 years of experience designing, managing and evaluating national public health programs. In 2019 she joined CDC’s Center for Injury Prevention and Control to work on public health and public safety coordination in addressing the overdose crisis. She led the development of CDC’s Public Health and Safety Team (PHAST) Toolkit, designed to support data-driven, multi-sector collaboration to reduce overdose deaths. She currently leads a team focused on building state and local capacity to respond to overdose spikes, anomalies, and emergent threats that may increase overdose risk. Ms. Rubel received her Master of Public Health in behavioral science and health education from Emory University in 2001.
