David Howard Sinkman is a civil rights lawyer whose practice focuses on violations of the United States Constitution and federal law, including ensuring that people with substance use disorders are not discriminated against in the criminal justice and health systems.

Before coming to Kaplan & Grady, David served s as the Opioid Coordinator and Civil Rights Coordinator for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

He also was a Senior Associate at the O’Neill Institute at the Georgetown University Law Center, a Visiting Scholar at the NYU School of Global Public Health, and a Senior Fellow at the Northeastern University School of Law.

David clerked for the Hon. Denny Chin on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Hon. Richard Owens on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and Justice Dorit Beinisch, the President of the Supreme Court of Israel.
