Cassandra Price is the director for the Office of Addictive Diseases within the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). She leads a comprehensive system committed to providing easy access to high-quality prevention, treatment, and recovery services. In this role, she also serves as the single state authority on substance use disorders.
Prior to the creation of DBHDD in 2009, Ms. Price was the women’s treatment coordinator and child & adolescent program administrator for the former Georgia Department of Human Resources in the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases where she was responsible for the implementation and oversight of substance use disorder treatment services for women and children. She has also served as vice president of the Women’s Services Network and completed leadership training by the SAMHSA-funded Addiction Technology Transfer Center. In 2023, she was appointed to the Georgia Opioid Settlement Advisory Commission (“GOSAC”) By Governor Brian Kemp.
Ms. Price is a Georgia Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor-II with the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia. She currently serves as the immediate Past President and Public Policy Chair on the National Association of State Drug/Alcohol Abuse Directors’ board of directors after serving three terms as President. She also serves on multiple committees that on focus on mental health, substance use, and advocacy for persons with disabilities.
Ms. Price grew up in Rome, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications. She also completed an MBA in project management at the American InterContinental University.
