Laura Reimer, Supervising Deputy City Prosecutor and diversion coordinator for the Long Beach City Prosecutor’s office. She coordinates with partners to reduce challenges to access to services for mental health, substance abuse treatment, and housing. She reviews eligibility for pre-trial programs, residential treatment, education, and wrap-around services in lieu of jail sentences and works on criminal justice reform in collaboration with prosecutors, law enforcement, and community stakeholders, housing and treatment providers. She refers individuals to a trauma-informed case management system in lieu criminal prosecution and conducts a monthly operational case management work group. Ms. Reimer helped initiate the inaugural “Homeless Court” for the City of Long Beach. This is a monthly off-site courtroom partnership between the City Prosecutor’s Office, the Health Department, the Public Defender’s Office, and social service organizations assisting people experiencing homelessness with legal matters and connecting them to treatment, housing, disability benefits, social security, and record clearing.
