Jenica Sandall is a Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist with over 20 years of experience in maternal-infant health. Currently serving as the Director of Clinical Excellence for the Safe Deliveries Roadmap Initiative at the Washington State Hospital Association, she leads statewide efforts to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Jenica’s diverse career spans roles from bedside care to regional safety and quality leadership. As an IHI-certified Improvement Advisor, she has coordinated quality improvement projects that have prevented neonatal pneumothorax, reduced unnecessary antibiotic exposure in newborns, lowered cesarean rates, and standardized responses to maternal early warning triggers.
Jenica is an AWHONN Emerging Leader and is deeply committed to advancing care models that uphold dignity and respect in childbirth, centering the birthing person, their baby, and their family. She is currently leading initiatives across Washington to implement TeamBirth, adopt the AIM Perinatal Mental Health Conditions Bundle, prevent the primary cesarean and pilot naloxone dispensing from inpatient obstetric units.
