Rebecca Vinroot is the Kin First Now Consultant for the Virginia Department of Social Services where she strives to support local Departments of Social Services with increasing their access to support for kinship families. She holds a B.A in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley. She has over 20 years of service in the child welfare system in several states, including as the Director of James City County Department of Social Services. Throughout her career, she has been involved with several initiatives, workgroups and committees focused on kinship care, trauma-informed services and social determinants of health.
