A native of southeastern Kentucky, Brittney Williams is the Project Director for the Kentucky Viral Hepatitis Treatment Project (KeY Treat [R01DA047952]) at the University of Kentucky, where she has worked under Dr. Jennifer Havens for the past five years. Brittney holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of the Cumberlands (2017) and has extensive experience in healthcare management, having worked for Appalachian Regional Healthcare for six years prior to joining the University of Kentucky in 2019.

In her current role, Brittney leads a hepatitis C elimination trial aimed at improving access to treatment for people who use drugs (PWUD) and former PWUD in rural Kentucky. Key outcomes of the project include medication initiation, completion, sustained virologic response (SVR), and re-infection rates.

Brittney has presented her work on participant satisfaction outcomes at the International Network on Health and Hepatitis in Substance Users Conference in Geneva, Switzerland (October 2023). She has also managed the clinical trial for the Xpert Hepatitis-C Virus (HCV) Test on the GeneXpert Xpress System.
