Operation UNITE

Carl Varney has served Operation UNITE for more than 12 years, currently serving as Expansion Coordinator/Area Prevention Coordinator. In this role, Carl works closely with schools, teaching adolescents about the dangers of substance misuse and illicit drugs. Additionally, he leads efforts to expand UNITE’s reach into new counties, fostering relationships and building partnerships to support these communities.
Carl’s passion for his work is deeply rooted in lived experience. His first-hand knowledge enables him to provide informed, factual information about battling addiction, making him a trusted voice in prevention education. Over the years, he has reached thousands of youth with impactful drug awareness and prevention messages.
Previously, Carl served as a Youth Activity Manager and Community Coalition Coordinator for UNITE. His dedication to drug prevention has made him a sought-after speaker at state-wide conferences, including Victory Over Violence in Kentucky and the Fall Institute for Family Resource Centers in Kentucky.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Carl is actively involved in children’s ministry through his church and enjoys coaching Little League. He and his wife Amanda, a kindergarten teacher in Madison County, KY, are proud parents of three young boys.
