Dr. Kevin Makati is the Director of Electrophysiology at St. Joseph's Hospital and has served as Rhythm Section Chair for BayCare Health System, and Board of Directors for BayCare Physician Partners. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Morsani School of Medicine at University of South Florida. Dr. Makati completed his residency at Washington University, School of Medicine/Barnes-Jewish Hospital and fellowships in cardiology and electrophysiology at Tufts University, School of Medicine/Tufts Medical Center and is currently double board certified in general cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Makati's administrative research roles have included global principal investigator, and site principal investigator for multicenter trials and NIH sponsored studies. His research interests include hybrid AF therapies, cardiac device optimization, left atrial appendage management, cardiac imaging and innovations in arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment. He is also an active reviewer and editorial board member for peer reviewed journals.
In addition to being involved in clinical research, Dr. Makati has participated as course director, keynote speaker, and faculty for local and international conferences. He regularly participates as an organizational advisor, consultant, strategist and advocates for local charitable foundations.
