Kirsi Isoherranen is MD, PHD and Specialist in Dermatology and Allergology. Currently she works in Helsinki University Hospital, Wound Healing Centre in a Multidisciplinary Wound Team. She has received Finnish Medical Society`s Special Competence in Wound Management in 2016.
Since 2016, Kirsi Isoherranen has been an active member of European Wound Management Association (EWMA) Council. In May 2023, she started her two-year term as EWMA President. She is a member of EWMA`s Executive and Scientific Committees and has given various presentations in international EWMA and other societies` congresses. She has been the editor of two EWMA documents: “Atypical wounds” published in 2019 and “Lower Leg Ulcer diagnosis and principles of treatment” published in 2023. She is the Secretary of the UEMS Multidisciplinary Joint Committee Wound Healing and Honorary treasurer of EAFWH (The European Association of Fellows in Wound Healing).
In Finland, she was the chair of The Finnish Guidelines of Chronic leg ulcers that were published in 2021. She has published several peer-reviewed articles in international journals and book chapters. Currently, she has three PhD students that are working on their wound-related thesis.
