I am board-certified in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, and I am CMET-certified in Wound Care. I hold additional certifications in HBOT and lymphedema therapy. I have been involved in 15 research projects, have edited a book chapter, and am in the process of publishing a wound care manual, "The Art of Wound Care. Concepts & Practical Applications". Over a dozen of my articles on Wound Care topics have been either published or accepted for publication in various national and international medical journals. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at the VCOM-Carolinas osteopathic medical school and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, Department of Surgery. I co-chair the Association for Advancement Wound Care Young Clinician Task. In 2017, I received an appreciation award from the Board of Directors of Rapid Regional Hospital for my contribution to their healthcare-related healthcare practices involving limb salvage in Rapid City, SD. I am on the peer review panel of articles submitted for publication to the journals "Advances in Skin & Wound Care” and “Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.”

My research areas include wound debridement and remodeling techniques, skin micrografting techniques, wound microbiota and wound infections, pressure injuries, skin friction injuries, and terminal skin lesions.

My work has been presented at Infectious Disease Week, Symposiums of Advanced Wound Care, the European Wound Management Association, and the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel. Association for the Advancement of Wound Care selected me to receive the 2022 Outstanding Contributions to Wound Care Award. I am also one of the group members of the upcoming "NPIAP Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guidelines.”
