Intended Learners

This certification preparation course is designed for physicians, podiatrists, wound care surgeons, physical therapists and PTAs, occupational therapists and OTAs, nurse practitioners, physician associates/assistants, masters-prepared nurses, registered nurses, associate degree nurses, dietitians, medical assistants, and sales and marketing specialists within wound care.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the etiology of chronic wounds and extrinsic factors that contribute to and affect wound healing outcomes
  • Explain the phases of wound healing and the associated microenvironment and cellular components and their functions in wound healing
  • Describe specific diagnostic tests, examination tests, lab tests, and measures related to wound assessment and management and the components of documentation
  • Identify methods for recognizing soft tissue and bone infections, bioburden management, and treatment of local and systemic infections
  • Outline specific treatment interventions for chronic wounds, including nutritional management, debridement, topical therapies, and biophysical agents

Activity Overview

Available in on-site, virtual (live), and on-demand formats, the Wound Certification Prep Course is an intensive seminar providing a comprehensive review of topics related to wound prevention and management. Each course is led by an interdisciplinary panel of 3 nationally recognized wound care educators.

Live/Virtual

To be eligible for documentation of credit for this live or virtual activity, participants must attend the full activity and submit a completed evaluation form. Participants who complete the evaluation online within 30 days of the live or internet live event will receive documentation of credit. Participants must complete the evaluation form online to receive documentation of credit.

On Demand

This on-demand webcast is available with synchronized slides and video/audio. 

To be eligible for documentation of credit, learners must participate in the educational activity, complete the 15-question post-test with a minimum score of 70%, and complete the activity evaluation. Participants who complete the evaluation online within active dates of the training will receive documentation of credit. Your certificate may not load if you are accessing it from a smartphone, or settings of your browser do not allow for a new tab/window to open.

Once a certificate has been claimed, physicians and pharmacists may elect for credits to be submitted on their behalf to their boards via additional fields that will appear within the Claim Certificate page. Credits must be submitted through this process to be reported to the American Board of Surgery and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy

After purchasing WCPC On Demand, participants have 90 days of unlimited access to view the entire program as often as they wish. Participants who have successfully completed the live version of this activity are not eligible to receive credit for this enduring material.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that the cutoff date for live or virtual activity cancellations is 30 business days prior to the event. All cancellations must be received in writing via email or by mail postmarked by that date. Full registration will be refunded, minus a $100 processing fee, only  for cancellations received in writing before that date. Registrations are transferable at any time. WCPC On Demand is not eligible for cancellation or refund.

Attendees of WCPC On Demand or a live program who do not pass their CWSP, CWS, or CWCA exam are eligible to retake the program at a 50% discount on the normal price of the course.
