Getting To The Conference Venue
By Train (recommended)
You can plan your train journey online at ns.nl and 9292.nl or you can purchase your ticket in the baggage hall. The station is 5 minutes’ walk after leaving the baggage hall.
Amsterdam Travel Ticket
An Amsterdam Travel Ticket lets you use virtually all of the city’s public transport. Your ticket includes unlimited travel with the Amsterdam Express bus (line 397) from Schiphol to every train station in Amsterdam. Visit discoverholland.com for more information.
The train abroad
You can buy train tickets for international train services operated by Thalys, ICE International, CityNightLine, and Eurostar at the Nederlandse Spoorwegen Hispeed desks. These desks are located near the Meeting Point at Schiphol Plaza.
Train tickets and the public transport card
In addition to paper tickets, many locals use a public transport card called the OV-chipkaart. You can use the OV-chipkaart on the train, bus, tram and metro services. Several different types of public transport cards are available.
By Bus
A single, disposable paper ticket is probably the best option if you plan to use the train, bus, tram, or metro only once. However, the OV-chipkaart can save you money if you plan to use the train, bus, tram, or metro more frequently and over a longer period of time.
Buying a public transport ticket at Schiphol
At Schiphol, you can buy a single paper ticket at the blue-grey Public Transport Tickets machines. These are located at the baggage reclaim area of Arrivals 3 and just outside Arrivals 3, at the escalators, up to Departures 3. At these ticket machines you can also buy your Amsterdam Travel Ticket.
It’s easy to buy and top up the rechargeable public transport chip card at the NS ticket machines at all railway stations. These yellow machines are operated by the national train carrier Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). At Schiphol you will find them at Schiphol Plaza.

With the Amsterdam Travel Ticket, you are able to travel on virtually all of Amsterdam’s public transport. You can buy a one-, two-, or three-day pass. Your ticket also includes the trip between Schiphol and Amsterdam by Amsterdam Express (bus 397).
Always check in and out
It’s important to always check in and check out when you travel. It’s easy—if you travel by train or metro, you just need to swipe your card at the card readers at the stations/platforms. For the bus and tram, you do this at the readers on board the bus or tram.
By Taxi
Will you travel to Schiphol by taxi or take a taxi to travel from Schiphol? Your taxi will always stop right outside the departure and arrival halls. You can choose a regular taxi, a luxury Schiphol Business Taxi or a Schiphol Travel Taxi minibus.
Taxis from Schiphol
The registered taxi companies at Schiphol will be happy to take you to any destination in the Netherlands. Follow the signs and floor stickers from the terminal to the official taxi queue in front of Schiphol Plaza. From here, the fares are displayed on their meter. That way, you will never pay too much. In addition, you can make a contactless payment in any taxi. The drivers accept credit cards, are not allowed to refuse rides, and will give you a printed receipt.
Attention: please avoid all unsolicited rides from taxi touts.
