Teams of two will select one time slot and associated certification track (ALS or BLS).
The BLS track is for BLS crews only; the team can include any of the below certifications.
BLS Track Certifications - First Responder/EMT-B/AEMT
The ALS track teams will include at least one of the below certifications.
ALS Track Certifications - EMT-I/NR-P/CCEMT-P/RN
The competition will consist of challenging, award-winning scenarios that test medical knowledge, communication, critical thinking skills, teamwork, and situational awareness.
The final team score will be the combination of each team’s results in the following areas:
Group, 3-Minute Challenge Computer-Based Score
Team Clinical Challenge Psychomotor Score (Clinical Challenge validated testing sheet will be used)
All required equipment, including Body Substance Isolation (goggles, gloves, etc.) will be provided to each team for use during the Challenge.
Participants should dress appropriately to compete in real-time EMS scenarios.
All teams and participants should arrive 15 minutes before their registered start time. If both team members are not at the Clinical Challenge registration table 15 minutes before their scheduled time, the time slot may be forfeited to another team.
All teams and participants agree to be filmed for debriefing and scoring, as well as for future promotional purposes.
The on-site Clinical Challenge Coordinator makes all final decisions regarding scoring, logistics, and any issues that may arise during the Challenge. For clinical issues, the on-site OMD makes the final decision.
No cell phones or text messaging devices are allowed in the team sequester room or are allowed to be carried by team members during the Challenge.
The top three teams from each track (ALS and BLS) will advance to the finals.
The top three teams from each track (ALS and BLS) will be presented with their award at the awards ceremony following the finals.
Rules and regulations are subject to change as seen fit by the committee. All registrants will be notified if rules and regulations change.
Each team member is allowed to bring 1 reference guide (commercial or personal) to have on their person and use during the scenario. These are not allowed for use on the 3-Minute Challenge.
