Michael S. Gerber, MPH, NRP, has more than two decades of experience in EMS as a paramedic, author, speaker and educator. He is a life member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad outside of Washington DC, and previously he served in several roles with the Alexandria Fire Department, including quality management supervisor and public information officer. He has authored articles for EMS World, JEMS, EMS1 and other publications, and also served as the lead writer for several national EMS projects, including EMS Agenda 2050. Michael is currently senior editor at Health Affairs, a leading health policy journal. He holds a BA in the history of medicine and science from Yale University and a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University.
