Katherine Koch, MEd, PhD, NRP, is an Associate Professor of Special Education at St. Mary's College of Maryland where she teaches courses on special education, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, teaching methods, and research design. She is the author of the textbook titled EMS response to patients with special needs: Assessment, treatment, and transport and an upcoming book titled Case studies in EMS: A reflective approach. Dr. Koch is also a paramedic and QA officer with the St. Mary's County Advanced Life Support Unit in St. Mary's County, Maryland.
