Shira Schlesinger, MD, MPH is Director of Education & Innovation for the Los Angeles County EMS Agency, Program Director of the Harbor-UCLA/LA County EMS Fellowship, and Medical Director for the Newport Beach Fire Department. In these roles, she provides medical advisement and education in EMS and disaster preparedness to personnel from paramedics to physicians. Dr. Schlesinger currently chairs the California EMS for Children Technical Advisory Committee and in addition to her clinical work as an EMS, Disaster, and Emergency physician, she lectures broadly on topics at the interface of EMS, Disaster Preparedness, and Public Health. Despite the daily upheavals of our lives and chosen profession, Dr. Schlesinger remains passionate about advancing prehospital care in the context of overall public health and to improving health outcomes in the communities we serve.
