Dr. Izidore S. Lossos is a Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Lymphoma Section, and Director of the Lymphoma Program at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami, where he holds an endowed chair. He earned his medical degree from Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology at Hadassah University Hospital, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship focused on lymphoma at Stanford University.
His research concentrates on the pathogenesis of lymphoma, the identification of molecular prognostic markers, and the development of new therapies, particularly for diffuse large cell lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, and other subtypes. Dr. Lossos is a recognized expert in Marginal Zone Lymphomas, actively participating in clinical trials as a principal investigator.
With over 340 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and Nature, he has an h-index of 61. His accolades include the 2007 Celgene Young Investigator Award and the 2012 Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Outstanding Cancer Research Award. From 2004 to 2020, he was listed as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly, and he received recognition as a Top Doctor by U.S. News & World Report from 2011 to 2016. Additionally, he serves on the editorial board of the journal Blood and has been a member of the Lymphoma Foundation Advisory Board for over a decade.
