Dr. Bridget E. Shields is an Assistant Professor in the department of dermatology at the University of Wisconsin. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin, where she served as chief resident. She trained as a fellow in complex medical dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania with a focus in granulomatous skin conditions including sarcoidosis, granuloma annulare (GA), and cutaneous Crohn’s disease. Dr. Shields is a member of the inpatient consultation service at the University of Wisconsin and she directs a focused granulomatous disease clinic. Her research focuses on elucidating the molecular pathways underlying granulomatous skin diseases. She aims to explore targeted therapies available for these conditions to improve the lives of her patients. In addition to numerous peer-reviewed, scientific publications, she has lectured regionally and nationally on granulomatous skin diseases including GA, cutaneous Crohn’s disease, and necrobiosis lipoidica. She has authored a series of book chapters on these topics, and served as Assistant Section Editor for JAMA Dermatology. Her career is supported by the Dermatology Foundation Career Development Award.
