Andres Yarur

Dr. Yarur completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital-University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. This was followed by an Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease fellowship at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He was recruited as faculty in the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, establishing the inflammatory bowel disease research program until more recently, when he moved to Los Angeles and joined the renowned inflammatory bowel disease institute at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

His research interests focus on Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, including novel therapies and optimization of current treatments. He has led or actively contributed to numerous clinical trials and multicenter prospective cohort studies. Dr. Yarur has received multiple awards from several national and international organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the World Gastroenterology Association, the United European Gastroenterology Society and the Asian Organization of Crohn’s and Colitis. In 2023, he received the Emerging Leader Sherman Prize. He is a member of the Alpha-Omega-Alpha honor medical society and has authored or co-authored more than 80 articles in prominent medical journals.
