Kevin P. Mollen, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Division Chief of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He serves as the Surgeon-in-Chief of the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Surgical Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program. His clinical research interests include the surgical indications and outcomes of pediatric and adolescent patients with IBD. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He trained in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In additional to his clinical work, Dr. Mollen is an epithelial biologist, funded by the NIH to study mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic reprogramming within the intestinal epithelium during inflammation.
