Fernando Velayos is a gastroenterologist who specializes in inflammatory bowel disease. He served as professor of medicine and co-medical director of the UCSF Center for Crohn’s and Colitis before joining Kaiser Permanente Northern California as the director of the regional program for inflammatory bowel disease. Fernando Velayos is a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF) and has served on the editorial board of several GI journals. His clinical and research interests involve clinical trials of novel therapies to treat IBD, population health strategies for managing IBD, and the prevention of colon cancer in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. He is the immediate past chair for the Immunology Microbiobiology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease IMIBD) Section for the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA)
