Michael A. Evans (RPh, MBA, FASHP), Chief Pharmacy Officer brings more than 25 years’ experience as a pharmacist and health system pharmacy leader.

 

As Chief Pharmacy Officer, Mike is responsible for overall strategy development, administrative oversight, and leadership for Pharmacy services at Geisinger. He and his pharmacy leadership team have successfully built a robust network of pharmacy programs for Geisinger’s integrated delivery system. The programs consist of Hospital Programs, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Programs, Retail Pharmacies, Mail Order Pharmacy, Specialty Pharmacies, Telepharmacy, Managed Care Pharmacy, Infusion Pharmacy, Formulary Services, Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes (CPIO), Pharmacy Fellowship & Residency Programs and Pharmacy Planning and Strategy.

 

He has oversight of all aspects of the medication use system for inpatient, outpatient, managed care, and ambulatory clinic pharmacy operations. With a staff of over 1,000 employees, the pharmacy leadership team was able to achieve drug cost savings in excess of $250M annually as well as identifying improvements and increase overall pharmacy profit to over $500M. Our 400+ system pharmacists are in a collaborative practice model independent of site of practice which has facilitated moving Geisinger Pharmacy Programs to the forefront of multidisciplinary patient care focusing on quality, patient satisfaction, patient access and value.
