Meri Shadley, Ph.D., MFT, LCADC has dedicated her 45-year professional career to clinical practice and training the next generation of therapists. Wedding her knowledge of systems and relationship dynamics with a deep understanding of the multiple pathways to recovery, Dr. Shadley advocates for individual health and strong, secure family attachments. An experienced clinician, supervisor, and teacher with professional licenses in Nevada, Dr. Shadley has published, consulted, and presented at numerous conferences on family systems therapy, women’s issues, collegiate recovery, and integrating somatic approaches into recovery treatment. She is an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor, a past AAMFT Divisional President, and the past chair of AAMFT's topical interest group on Substance Use and other Addictive Disorders. During her 25 year long tenure as an Associate Professor with the University of Nevada, Reno, Dr. Shadley taught and managed academic programs in substance use disorders counseling, co-founded NRAP, a collegiate recovery program, and developed a heartfelt awareness and connection to the possibilities inherent in recovery. She is the co-developer (with W.M. DeWitt) of the SPATS framework for understanding and treating family systems and has most recently integrated this conceptualization with the orientation towards mind, body, spirit health. Dr. Shadley has multiple awards, including a lifetime achievement award from the Association for Recovery in Higher Education.
