Khary Rigg, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law & Policy at University of South Florida. He is a behavioral health services researcher with over 20 years of experience studying substance use disorders. He earned his Ph.D. in medical sociology from University of Miami and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in health services research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Rigg also has appointments in the Department of Sociology, Department of Criminology, Florida Mental Health Institute, and Center for Justice Research & Policy. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles on a wide variety of addiction related topics (mostly around opioid misuse/overdose) and has received over 3 million dollars of grant funding for his research. He is currently Addiction Editor for Annals of Medicine and Senior Editor for Journal of Studies on Alcohol & Drugs.
