Reid Michael Ness, MD, MPH, received his medical degree from Indiana University in 1990. In 1993, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University before returning to Indiana University for his fellowship training in Gastroenterology. Since 2000, he has been a clinician and researcher at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. His current research interests focus on the pathophysiology of colorectal polyps and quality improvement in providing colorectal cancer preventative services. He has been and is currently active in several NIH and industry studies. He is presently the Chairman of the NCCN guidelines committee for colorectal cancer screening.
