Mark McMillan is the founder and owner of McMillan Behavioral Health and Addiction Services (MBHS), a private clinic located in Metro Detroit, in the heart of Ferndale, Michigan, which specializes in chemical and behavior addiction treatment. Mark is a licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC). Mark obtained his Masters from the advanced MSW program from Wayne State University, with a concentration in substance abuse treatment. Being in recovery himself from alcohol has given Mark a unique perspective on the challenges facing clients wanting to get help with their addiction issues. By using trauma informed care, Mark is able to uniquely tailor a treatment plan that tackles common issues such as shame-identity, out-of-control behavior, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). In addition to substance abuse counseling, Mark also is an experienced therapist with depression, anxiety, couples counseling and other mental health issues. MBHS also offers a men’s therapy group for men who have been sexually abused as children. Professionally, Mark is a trained facilitator in a variety of professional topics and workshops, including Ethics and Substance Sbuse Treatment for LGBTQ+ clients, Ethics and Telehealth Therapy, and Ethics, Dual Relationships and the LGBTQ+ Recovery Community. Mark is also a supervisor to MSW interns and new Social Workers, working to obtaining their full license.
In addition to his clinical and professional experience, Mark is also on the Board of Directors for the National Association of LGBT Addiction Professionals (NALGAP), where he holds the position of Vice-President.
