Dr. Deering is Chair of the Piedmont Healthcare Cardiac Governance Council and has served as Chief of the Piedmont Healthcare Arrhythmia Center and Chair of Cardiology at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. In collaboration with Piedmont Healthcare leaders, he has grown the Piedmont Healthcare cardiovascular clinical and research program with a focus on quality improvement initiatives designed to generate effective value-based care.

Dr. Deering has participated as a leader in many cardiac and arrhythmia societies including the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the World Society of Arrhythmias (WSA) and multiple international cardiovascular societies. He has served in many leadership roles in HRS, functioning as president from 2018-2019 and presently serving as chair of the Quality Improvement Committee. He is currently the Chair of Education Committee of the World Society of Arrhythmias, a large international arrhythmia society, where he coordinates global educational programs.

Dr. Deering has been a speaker and moderator at multiple national and international cardiovascular meetings; has authored and co-authored numerous publications addressing cardiac arrhythmia and cardiovascular quality issues; participates in many arrhythmia research projects; and serves as an editor and reviewer for multiple electrophysiology and general cardiac journals.

Dr. Deering earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Yale and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia.
