Share Your Cutting-Edge Research at Great Debates and Updates of the Diabetic Foot in 2024!

The faculty of Great Debates and Updates of the Diabetic Foot invite you to submit an abstract for consideration to be presented as a poster at The Gaylord Texan in Dallas, Texas, December 6 - 7, 2024. This is your opportunity to share your cutting-edge research with the best-in-class audience of experts in the field.  

Abstracts will be on display during all Poster Hall hours. An ePoster will also be available to view in the mobile app.  

GDU DF Abstract Overview

Abstracts are brief summaries of the overall goal of an offering and the specific ideas or concepts that will be presented, including outcomes and implications for practice. Please limit abstracts to a 250-to-350-word count and divide it into the following sections: introduction, methods, results, and discussion. Key Dates for Abstract Submissions

  • Abstract Submission Site Opens: July 15, 2024
  • Abstract Submission Site Closes: DEADLINE EXTENDED to November 1, 2024
  • Notification of Acceptance or Rejection: November 15, 2024
  • Deadline to withdraw: November 23, 2024
  • PDF Posters Due: November 26, 2024

Abstracts submitted by October 14, 2024, may be eligible for the following benefits and/or awards that correspond to the selected abstract presentation categories indicated by the abstract submitter during the submission process:

  • ePoster Display in Mobile App
  • Poster Hall Poster Display
  • Highest Scoring Abstract Awards
  • People’s Choice Award
  • Publishing opportunity in Podiatry Today and WoundSource

Abstract Presentation Categories

You may select one of the presentation types below for consideration:

1. Poster Presentation Only

Posters are exhibited in the Poster Hall on a bulletin board measuring 4 feet in height and 8 feet in width. The posters hung in the Poster Hall will be available for viewing during all Poster Hall hours. ePosters will also be available to view in the mobile app.  

2. Oral Presentation Only

Oral presentations will feature the highest-scoring abstracts submitted to GDU DF. Primary contacts (submitter) of these abstracts will be notified of selection for Oral Presentation by the acceptance/decline deadline. A minimum of three (3) submissions will be selected for podium presentation, and each author will have ~5-8 minutes to present key results of their research, followed by 2 minutes for Q&A time with the audience, animated by the experts chairing the session. Abstracts selected for podium presentation will be notified individually. Oral presenters are also invited to present their abstract, in poster form, during the poster session if they desire. 

3. Poster Presentation If Not Selected For Oral

If an "Oral Presentation only" abstract is not chosen for an oral presentation, the abstract will be declined. If there is any chance you would like to be considered for Poster Presentation, if not accepted as Oral Presentation, please select the following category during the submission process: Poster Presentation if not selected for Oral.

Abstract Submission Categories

Abstract submitters should submit a case series study in the following areas as they pertain to the Diabetic Foot: 

  • Diabetic Wound Healing
  • Surgical Techniques
  • Limb Salvage 
  • Healthcare Disparities 

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed and scored based upon the specific review criteria indicated for each of the respective submission categories, as outlined: Submission Category Review Criteria

Primary Contact

All abstract communications will be sent to the primary contact (submitter). The primary contact will be responsible for notifying all authors of important details and deadlines. Please save gdudfabstracts@hmpglobal.com to your address book so that you do not miss important correspondences. Additionally, the website will be updated with any important dates or instructions. We are not responsible for any emails that are not received due to misspellings, defunct email accounts, or emails blocked from gdudfabstracts@hmpglobal.com.

Disposition/Notification of Acceptance

Abstracts will be accepted on a competitive basis. The acceptance/rejection notification email will be sent to the primary contact (submitter). Please do not inquire about the status of your submission before the date noted at the top of this page, as no further information will be available. Prior to the meeting, all information will be forwarded to the primary contact only and they are responsible for notifying all the other authors of upcoming details.

Intent to Present

GDU DF requires proof of pre-registration for all accepted abstract presenters. After registering, it is the designated primary contact’s responsibility to mark his/her intent to present through the abstract portal, as outlined in acceptance email, by providing the badge number of the registered representative. The badge number can be found on your registration confirmation. Instructions on this process will be included in your acceptance email. Even though you may be registered for GDU DF, intent to present must still be submitted. If the intent to present is not submitted by the date included in your acceptance email, the abstract will be withdrawn.
