Juan Camacho
MD
Partner, Vascular & Interventional Radiologist
Radiology Associates of Florida

I am a fellowship trained Vascular and Interventional Radiologist as well as a borad certified Body Imager. As a Clinical Associate Professor at Florida State University’s College of Medicine, and throughout my prior academic appointments, I gained experience conducting clinical and translational research in interventional radiology and abdominal imaging. Most recently, while developing the clinical ENT service line at the institutions where I practiced, I started to clinically treat patients with benign and malignant thyroid conditions with percutaneous and endovascular interventions. Additionally, I led translational research in the ablation literature by developing a large animal model to perform thyroid ablation and evaluate the histological changes produced which led to an industry-funded ablate and resect study for the treatment of
papillary thyroid carcinoma. Currently, I have been applying Thyroid Artery Embolization (TAE) for the treatment of large thyroid glands that are ineligible for ablative techniques and will be leading the first multiinstitutional trial on the subject (the PROTECT registry). I have also been designing clinical trials to study intravascular delivery of treatments for thyroid pathology alone or in combination with percutaneous techniques.
