Dr. Crapser is a board certified and licensed mental health and substance use counselor and clinical supervisor. He has worked in each modality of treatment from medically managed detox to outpatient and with those justice involved. Dr. Crapser has been in the behavioral health field for over 15 years.

Most recently, Dr. Crapser worked for the Oregon State Penitentiary overseeing mental health services delivered to inpatient and outpatient housing. Nick started a Peer Recovery Mentor program, licensing adults in custody as Certified Recovery Mentors, as well as a Diversion Program based on a Drug Court Model; a program being implemented statewide in correctional settings and considered an exemplar by other states.

Nick’s passions are helping those that are justice involved, formerly incarcerated, and suffering from mental health and substance use disorders – subjects that he has spoken on at TEDx, Rutgers University, Humboldt State University, Columbia University, Arizona State University, and in Washington, D.C., Boston, Florida, and California. He is on the board of the Lane County Public Defender’s Office, Chair of the Lane Community College Human Services Advisory Board and President of the Oregon Recovery Association of Addiction Professionals (Oregon NAADAC affiliate). Dr. Crapser has been an adjunct professor at Oregon State University, Lower Columbia College, and most recently, at Rutgers University.
