Dr. White has a long and distinguished career that encompasses executive, clinical, research, and educational domains. She is currently on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She was the Director of the Research and Evaluation Unit for DMH and Harvard University and the Director of Addiction Services at a Massachusetts Public Health Hospital.

She is an LADC with additional certifications in drug and alcohol counseling, addictions nursing, and as a clinical specialist in public health. She is a Board-Certified Fellow in Traumatic Stress and a founding member of the American Society of Addiction Nursing (ASAN).

Dr. White is the recipient of over 15 awards for her work in the field of SUDs. She has published and co-authored chapters on addictions in psychiatric and community health textbooks. Previously, she was part of a video production addressing suicide in adolescents in Massachusetts. In 2018, she was recognized with the Labor Activist Award for advocating for people in recovery. In April 2024, she was recognized by the Dean of the Manning School at UMass Boston for redesigning the Addiction Counseling Education Program.

She is certified as an educator/therapist in compassion fatigue and a specialist in addictive disorders, compassion fatigue, and vicarious traumatization in healthcare providers. She lectures at facilities and agencies nationwide and is a recognized leader in the fields of addictions, impaired practice, peer assistance, and healthcare professional stress.

She has also volunteered on the Apache Reservation in Arizona, working with Indigenous Tribal People to provide education on substance use disorders.
