Dr. Venita Chandra is board certfied Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery at Stanford University. Her research and clinical interests include limb salvage, technology development, and optimizing treatment for complex open and endovascular approaches to peripheral vascular and aneurysmal disease.
Dr. Chandra graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in genetics and cell biology from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She then earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. At Stanford University Medical Center, CA, she completed a General Surgery residency and chief residency, a Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship, as well as a Biodesign Innovation Fellowship in the Department of Bioengineering and Medicine. She joined the faculty at Stanford in 2013.
The founder of the Stanford Extremity Preservation Program (StEPP), Dr. Chandra has substantial expertise in new and cutting-edge peripheral vascular and limb salvage techniques. She works to optimize patient management and educate residents and fellows in this complex field.
Dr. Chandra has authored more than 60 articles and reviews in peer-reviewed journals as well as many book chapters. She has presented her work around the world at many regional, national, and international conferences and symposia. In addition, she holds several patents from her entrepreneurial work.
