Ottobock Healthcare

Jeff Waldmuller thrives at the intersection of innovation and grit. As a Research & Development Prosthetist at Ottobock, he doesn’t just design prosthetic components—he creates solutions that help people chase their passions. Whether it’s a child walking for the first time or an athlete competing at the highest level, Jeff’s mission is to help prosthetic users to push boundaries and go farther—whether it’s through an innovative prosthetic foot design or improved socket design. He believes that every mile matters, every finish line counts, and no one should be limited by the design of their prosthesis. He approaches his work with the mindset of both an engineer and an adaptive athlete.
An adaptive ultra-endurance athlete himself, Jeff has competed in grueling marathons, ultramarathons, and long-course triathlons around the world. He represents Ottobock as an official prosthetist for the Paralympic Games. His firsthand experience navigating the physical demands of endurance sports gives him unique insight into the challenges adaptive athletes face, particularly when it comes to injury prevention and wound care.
At the 2025 SAWC Spring WHS Meeting, Jeff will co-present Athletes in Action: Adaptive Wound Care for Endurance Athletes,” where he’ll draw from both his professional expertise and personal journey. He will explore innovative wound care strategies, focusing on practical techniques and design improvements that help adaptive athletes stay in the race—literally. With a blend of science, storytelling, and passion, Jeff offers a fresh perspective on how cutting-edge prosthetic technology and advanced wound care can empower athletes to keep moving forward.
